June has been Pride month for years and more and more companies turn themself inside out to get a marketing angle. Most companies seems truly committed and they actually have a full internal and external commitment to support the movement. I obviously like and respect these brands more, also studies have shown that companies that promote diversity do better.
Others companies just paint their logo in rainbow colors thinking that’s enough. Don’t get me wrong, I do think spreading awareness is one of many ways to get the message and idea out about Pride. So I think all in all even the smallest things are important. But from a marketing perspective it can backfire if you don’t have a genuine commitment.
Anyhow, on todays run I added a rainbow 🌈 to the title of my run and after saving it I noticed how the path on the map turned into a rainbow. Being June I made the connection to Pride and tried to edit another run with the Pride flag 🏳️🌈. Worked great and a confirmation to the relation to Pride I would say! Tested to add them in the description as well, which worked out fine. So start adding rainbows to your activities on Strava!
A subtle support for Pride I would say. Don’t know of Stravas commitment in regards to supporting the movement. But ingenuous and fun Easter egg that will show the rainbow in my Strava feed for all who follows me. Getting attention and hopefully awareness of Pride.
